I've seen those Di. The pair of wellies I really want are black, with sparkly skull and crossbones on the sides

I know those, but favour the ones with skulls and roses, just not sure if they go up to large enough sizes, as i have size 8 feet.

I hate buying shoes.....can't seem to find anything that fits properly. Cos of the arthritis my feet are going a bit crooked so it's a right pain in the wotsit.....

Same here Lizzie; I live in slippers and Crocks most of the time. I don't own any shoes now and when I was married last year I had to buy a pair to wear for a whole hour. I got to the reception and put on sequined flip flops but I was in agony for over a fortnight, never again.

What's all this got to do with spades?

Better not go and get one of those as well as I bought the long handled spade at Lidl. Was getting on quite well with it double digging my pea bed until I was distracted by the views of the mountains. Had to take myself off to Windermere to visit the Lake District HS garden at Holehird. We had a very pleasant afternoon out and came home down Coniston and stopped off at the duck pond in Grange. Sorry about all the photos this week - celebrating broadband installation on Monday. If anybody else is suffering in the sticks, BT said I couldn't be connected (a neighbour has BT bb off the same pole!), Tiscali said I didn't have a valid BT phone number (Tiscali have been supplying dialup down it for years) but Virgin installed it in a week with no hassle. Only gone for 1Mb at £9.99 pm like I was paying for dialup but it is still way better than dialup.

What gorgeous photos Geoff. I love the Lake District. My ambition for this year is to walk Scafell Pike, might get there, might not I know the Trough of Bowland fairly well but haven't been for some years now. A lovely part of the world too

What a wonderful invitation. I may consider doing just that Gilly. We're only an hour and a half away. We used to go to Ingleton for long periods of time so it would be nice to go back again and see the place. It holds many happy memories for me.

We are near Grange over Sands overlooking Morecambe Bay across to Arnside lovely part of the world, I often drive along the coast road when I go shopping to Barrow and most Thursdays finds me at the market in Ulverston not today though too wet and windy

this house goes with the job we have a house in Harrogate but plan to retire to France shortly

Yes Lizzie we went family history hunting to Wigan last week and then on to Warrington to Ikea only took us 90mins to get back, we started our married life in Wigan 35 years ago but we weren't into family history then so didn't know my GG Grandfather was buried at Abram and lived 50 yds down the road from the church

Good luck for your move to France. Any particular area in mind? It's lovely down here in the Gers, very friendly too. Long hot summers and short, but sometimes cold, winters. I like to have seasons. Lived in Far East once and we only had one season a year (yawn).

I'm doing my family history and I'm over now between Scarborough and Whitley Bay. My family were moorland dwellers and I come from a very long line of Master Blacksmiths. Got a lot of Welsh links too.

Haven't done any for a while so will have to get cracking again.

You're not a Richardson are you? Only my mum's family were sheep farmers on the moors near Whitby.
