I've just seen an advert on TV for Lidl who are selling those lovely long (beech)handled forks and spades from Thursday (6 March). I've been using them for the past few years and would never go back to a standard (short) handle. Far less back ache involved.
Only £7.99 and I can highly recommend them.

Nothing to do with advertising OH, all to do with making sure anyone who's needing a new (long handled) spade etc doesn't miss out.
They come and go so fast if you don't get the right day, you don't get the product
What's more, I advertise KG to anyone who'll listen who has so much as a window box to grow in; like you OH

I have a great spade, aluminium and longer handled, got it mail order a few years ago, and then saw them in Woolies afterwards. It probably wouldn't do on a heavy soil, but great on mine. I had a quick google, but couldn't find the suppliers name. I'll find out and pass on the info.
I will however be going to ++++ for the tent cloches tomorrow bright and early!!

I must say it's nice to see you young ladies on good form.
As for the unicycle and your carbon footprint Vivien, i think it might increase it, if you take into consideration the ambulance that will have to come and collect you.
I wonder if the staff at ---- laugh when the gardening items are on sale, and the shop is full of gardeners in their gardening clothes.
I think i will have an hour tending my window box.

Well, todays the day ladies, i hope you have your shopping bags at the ready.
It's funny when you think about it, some ladies get excited about shoes, handbags and make-up.
But not ours, oh no, it's fruit trees, seeds and plastic cloches.
But i know what sort of woman i like best, and it's not the first one.

OH,
for the record I will be donning my war paint, putting on my killer stilletoes and arming myself with my fashionably large big handbag ready for the fray.... the offer of a good cloche can turn even a mild gardener vicious

well, I made it back to tell the tale!
I have a car full (a bit of an exaggeration there) of lovely stuff, including cloches (I hope they are OK) spade & fork (as recommended by Chantal) and various plant foods etc. I am feeling very pleased with myself, apart from the fact that I had to drive to work today!
Oh, and I wasn't wearing my gardening clothes either, posh work gear today!!!
