Tigger, it IS an old name, I looked it up with Seedling a while back. We did some research and it's been going a lot longer than you or me; especially if he's from North of the Border. Has anyone noticed a Scottish accent in any postings? No hint of kilt wearing?
Brilliant book Alan, is it available on Amazon?
It'll be "OH The Movie" next.

Dear Alan, very clever indeed.
This is the book i took my name from, the character just seemed to suit me down to the ground.
Dear Chantal, fancy being the leading lady.

"Born at the dusk of the Victorian era, Bert Pinnegar, an awkward orphan child with one leg a tad longer than the other, rises from inauspicious schoolboy days spent picking wildflowers and dodging angry farmers to become the legendary head gardener “Old Herbaceous,” the most esteemed flower-show judge in the county and a famed horticultural wizard capable of producing dazzling April strawberries from the greenhouse and the exact morning glories his Lady spies on the French Riviera, “so blue, so blue it positively hurts.” Sprinkled with nuggets of gardening wisdom, Old Herbaceous is a witty comic portrait of the most archetypal—and crotchety—head gardener ever to plant a row of bulbs at a British country house."
One leg longer than the other? Is that why you seem to go round in circles a lot OH?

Now here's a thought. This has also been adapted as a play
"It's not often that you find a play which gives you gardening tips and cookery suggestions! This one-man show about Bert, the head gardener at a country house, has entranced audiences all around the country. Indeed the play was performed by Roger Hume at Windsor Castle on Boxing Night 1979 in the presence of the Royal Family. As Bert potters around his plant pots and gardening tools, he relates tales of his life as a gardener, completely drawing us in to his special world and treating us as garden party guests who are nosing in on his greenhouse. A very special piece"
We could have a KG day out with OH playing himself, giving his gardening and cookery tips whilst pottering in his greenhouse whilst we all have a nose around...

Careful what you say - his name means ROCK (as in HARD, not as in STICK OF) in Welsh and Gaelic.

You should read the book if you can, it's rather sweet, but the ending is a little sad.
As for the photo, NEVER.

Dear Alan, i haven't seen that ariel photo before, i live just to the left of the allotments.
I think that photo was probably taken about ten years ago, going by what washing is hanging on the line.

If OH wants to keep the location of his greenhouse retreat under wraps, despite the efforts of Google map to uncover it,..then perhaps I could come up with just the alternative venue for his show...complete with Big House..etc
'cept I cleared it out yesterday ready for dismantling and rebuild.
So perhaps the old armchair would fit at the end of this one...and a camera on the door frame and a web broadcast of the OH story could commence...
..and the location fee may just pay for the greenhouse rebuild
