Re: Your local Last Frost date

It says late April for Staines . . . but it's really just a guess, isn't it?

Re: You would not believe it!!!!

I'd be too embarrassed to serve anything that bad!

But, I suppose, if it's being sold, she may not have a job for much longer

Re: Hello - and the first of many stupid questions

Alreay ticked that one on the list, Primrose!

I shall plant them out anyway and see what happens. Trouble is, magazine arrives and I get all enthusiastic and then realise that I need to wait at least another month before I can actually do what it says

Steep learning curve!

Re: Hello - and the first of many stupid questions

Thanks tangoman and Catherine - I shall certainly need a lot of hand holding and will no doubt make lots of rookie mistakes (I already have a list building up), but the advice of a good forum is invaluable

Re: Hello - and the first of many stupid questions

Ian, yes, those are the three varieties

Some of them are just starting to shoot so should I leave them until they flower?

Re: Hello - and the first of many stupid questions

Thanks for that, Primrose. I got the idea for growing them in planters as they were advertised on TV. If they don't grow so well, I can always move them into one of the beds, I suppose. It's very much a year of experimentation!

Re: help in the kitchen

I was going to recommend the Jamie book (although I've not managed to keep any of the recipes to only 30 minutes - I need a sous chef to find all the ingredients for me first!), and I use one called Meals in Minutes which is quite old, but useful! I also get quite a few recipes from magazines - ofte...

Re: Grass Cutting - major advice needed

After speaking to the bosses, is there anywhere you can put up a notice (a noticeboard being the obvious place!) to say what's happening with the lawns so you can give reassurance they will look wonderful when you've finished?

(And then you can come round and sort out my moss and mud patch!)

Hello - and the first of many stupid questions

Hi, I've just signed up to the magazine and the forums so thought I'd say hello and apologise in advance for posting some VERY basic questions I'm very new to this gardening lark, but after managing to successfully grow some strawberries last year, and the sad demise of a huge walnut tree in the gar...
