We called at the Falconry Centre off the Settle Bypass today, for a quick cup of tea with my OH who was working. He decided to have a tea with a toasted tea cake. I chose tea with crumpets.

The lady asked if we wanted cups or mugs, we said mugs thinking that we would get a teapot and mugs. Oooh no two mugs at £1.30 per mug  The crumpets and teacakes arrived. (£1.30 each) My crumpets were uncooked, so I called her and explained politely that they were cold. So she took them off me and told me that they had been in the toaster the same time as the toasted tea cake and should have been okay.

THEN SHE PUT THEM IN THE MICROWAVE TO HEAT THEM UP

I did not know this as I did not hear her only my OH heard the ping of the microwave but in his wisdom did not tell me. The same crumpets came back to me (with one bite out of one crumpet) and she decided to give me and extra lump of butter.!!!!!!!

Needless to say I did not eat them (my OH did eat one half) I have not been well recently so did not have the heart to complain I just got up and walked out, no wonder no one was there if that is the standard of food they provide. The place is up for sale.

This afternoon on our way back we called at a cafe in Feizor, how different this was fab cakes, huge pot of tea with hot water and more if we needed.

Customer care is all and some people dont think that it does matter this was one person that did not care.

I'd be too embarrassed to serve anything that bad!

But, I suppose, if it's being sold, she may not have a job for much longer

I'm surprised so many catering establishments employ people who have no idea how to prepare and serve food. They think they can shove anything in the microwave and it will be OK. Whereas bread, pastry etc. usually turns to concrete as it cools off. It makes me wonder what they eat if they think what they are serving up is alright.

That is terrible.
I know that catering wages are miserably low but they should know what they are doing.
But then, so many people don't cook anymore, only heat up food, it is so sad. I doubt there are many of us who buy ready meals but vast ammounts of prepared food is sold (shame, I say)
Nothing is foolproof to a sufficiently talented fool.

Catherine, I notice that your first-mentioned place has been up for sale for some time. I wonder why?!

Hi Monika We know after our visit why it must be up for sale. The food was and service was dreadful. If I had been feeling better I would have complained. Just one of those things where you dont go back, probably like lots of other people once a bad experience you dont go back and then it is a rolling problem where no one turns up.

If you get the chance try Feizor cafe it is really very good.
