Re: Potatoe mix up
Good evening to you both, yes looking at the two bags, one is definitely more elongated so i guess they must be the Charlottes and the rounder ones must be the Valour. Thank you

Re: Growing onions from seed?
Hi and thank you both for tips. Yes I think I'll try half and half. Did that with my citrus trees (and delighted to say they survived the unheated greenhouse.)I too find onion sets disappointing and expensive. Most my onions now are at least as long as my middle finger if not longer

Growing onions from seed?
Good morning all This is my 1st attempt at growing onions from seed. It's started off well. Planted them in seed trays on warm windowsills end of December. About 3 weeks ago I transplanted them into individual small pots and put them in an out house. Its not heated but it is frost free and they seem...

Newt and eggs
I have just found a newt in a half full bag of compost that has been sat untouched all year in a damp part of the garden. I left it where it was so as not to disturb it. The thing is in the brief glimpse i got i also noticed some small white eggs in there too. Personally i thought they look like slu...

Will my asparagus recover from asparagus beetle?
I've had 4 wonderful yrs of home grown asparagus. Though last year I noticed the beetles I tried to pick and kill many but over all they didn't seem to do any harm. Sadly this spring the asparagus is all coming up a couple of inches and then dying. Will it recover on its own for the following year? ...

Re: Personal peat vs peat-free experiment
Hi Geoff, thank you for your post. It has given me plenty of food for thought, it is something I will have to think about...what I am actually testing, seedlings starting or length of time they can sustain growth? It leads me to question, when businesses and/or individuals say they could not manage ...
