I bought 2 bags of seed potatoes, 1 of charlotte and the other valour. They are both on the windowsill chitting but like a wally i removed both labels and now i have no idea which is which. Any ideas? I take it the charlottes wont grow first being earlies (they all grow at the same rate don't they?) I suppose i'll have to try digging them both up but will the charlottes be much bigger than the valour (a main crop). I know i should be able to tell by taste but home grown always brings about unexpected results and flavours. HELP!!

Sarah S D. Charlottes are usually oval shaped and yellow and are a second early, I have never grown Valour so can't help there.

Evening Sarah, do the two varieties look different to each other, if they do, as Bren said, Charlotte are quite a long oval shape, and slightly bigger at one end.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Good evening to you both, yes looking at the two bags, one is definitely more elongated so i guess they must be the Charlottes and the rounder ones must be the Valour. Thank you :D :D

Yes - Charlotte are the long, oval, yellowish ones. I did grow Valor many years ago. Rather late variety so you need to watch out for blight.
