Hi Mouse and Glallotments, Have you tried covering your plots with HD black Polythene for a while as this will dry them out a bit. Then when fairly dry use digging boards to work from as you dig your plots. When I lived in Hertfordshire, famous for it's clay soil, I used this method and it was quit...

Advice about removing a tree needed please
Guys When i was strimming my new plot yesterday i found just on the edge of it a tree,not too sure what type it is about 3-4 ft tall,i am going to dig it out when it stop's raining ,What would be the best way to deal with the roots i car't get out could i apply some sort of weedkiller. Hi Geoff Went out today with the new strimmer,used the disk as you said,so now i have a nice strimmed plot when i can mange to re size the photos i'll put up a before and after photo ,the next question will be what do i do now i think i will only use half of the plot to start and then cover the rest...

I have been given some seeds from a work mate,but i am not too sure if i should use them,on the packets there are dates,most of them have the date 2005,does this mean i carn't use them as they are out of date or does it not mater that much.

Is it the same with horse manure,as i can get hold of some as my wife has a horse and was when i get sorted going to dig it in to my plot, Sorry if it's a silly question.
