End of my season, been a down years for me, personal problems . . . :? However, we had our fair share of produce, worse where there is non as my grandma used to say . . . :)

Go out with a bang, my Pineapple beef toms really got their skates on outside, dramatically out growing the ones I had in the green house, best inside was about half a pound. This one outside, has grown to 1lb 12ozs . . . :D

I grew them in B&Q grow bags same as I always do my outside toms. The SunGolds went well this year as well . . . they always do well.

Next year, I might have more time for a little extra TLC on the 'Pineapples' see if I can do even better?

What fab tomatoes CJS we have again lost all our tomatoes to blight. I am not sure we will grow them next year in the PT. You are so lucky.

Thats a real shame Catherine, I'm so green to this, I would not know blight if it bit me on the **m? I do remember my Auntie Ivy back in the 50's talking about soil borne diseases that especially affected tom? So she always used 'ring culture', fresh soil every year??? 50's? might have been 60's?

Any how, I in my naivety always use rings in the green house, 12" pots with the bottoms cut off. Out side I use B&Q grow bags laid on the soil. The big advantage to this out side is that I can build a cane 'A' frame (runner bean style) over my toms, then put a single vertical up which the plant grows . . . do this because 2 years ago, the plants were so heavy laden, the whole lot collapsed in a bit of wind and rain one night!!! and that was just 'SunGold' . . . !

CJS, Here's to a better year next year for you personally. Looks like the garden was a bright spot though, well done.

Yeah, I started off all guns blazing but things just got me down as the year has gon on . . . :? I also run out of ideas on what to do . . . with 20ft of greenhouse? Now or then, thats the problem with being a loner, no one to get inspiration off? Everything is looking a bit tatty at the moment? Also need to dig a bit more lawn up . . . gets harder as one gets older . . . :!:

Biggest disappointment, my purple sprouting grew blind!!! had half a dozen spears on two plants June time? thats it, the caterpillars had a feast though . . . left them in the ground, just in case? still there, still no sign of any spears, but the caterpillars are doing their thing, different breed now? :evil:

I have run into a personal health barrier, no where near my Hazels troubles, but it does get one down. Improving now, but getting the enthusiasm . . . for anything . . . fishing, photography, boats or gardening . . . seem to have run out of imagination :|

O'well, got some light reading to do tonight, the 'Dobies' seed catalogue arrived in the post this morning, maybe I will get some inspiration from that :)

Evening CJS, i don't think there's many of us that don't have an odd failure through a gardening year, so don't feel to low about that.

As Pongeroon said, you have achieved so much since you joined the forum, you should really be very proud of yourself.
Just try and think of all the good things you have done this year.

It's amazing how a Winter off, just reading through seed catalogues can set you up for a new growing season. :)
