Does one need a full motorcycle license to drive them on the highways and byways?

Hello Snooky

Interesting question, the answer I think is YES and NO.

As I understand it from another forum:

Quads are Category B1 on a U.K. driving licence.

To drive a Category B1, you must have a full Category B (car) licence.

The only exception is, if you passed your Category A (motorcycle) test before October 2000. That will also allow you to drive a quad.

Evening Barney,
Thanks for the info, it will put paid to a discussion on whether or not these bikes can be driven with a car license.
