Hi all,

Just back from Tatton Park and boy was it hot, sticky and humid. The show was fine but usual lack of veg. The usual suspects were there, T&M and one other whose name escapes me at the moment.

Some of the show gardens were fantastic. My complete favourite was Aughton Green in association with The Big Pond Company. It was a series of terraces constructed in granite. Coming down it was a meandering waterfall that cascaded gently to the bottom terrace where it formed a shallow, beach like pool. This was planted up with water lilys.

The plants consisted of low and medium growing shrubs and perennials in shades of red, blue, white, pink and cream. There was loads of varigated foliage in shades of yellow, cream, black and red.

I have totally fallen in love with this garden. Absolutly breathtaking.

My other favourite was the Anthony Nolan garden that was set out quite cottagey in a square planting pattern with loads of colour. I could live with either but the first one i've descibed is my favourite. If I ever get a garden, that's what I want part of it to be like. It's how i've always pictured it to be.

I was nearly filmed at a garden with black brick walls (couldn't see the name cos it was packed) You can't see me but i'm behing the big bloke!! I'm only little so I always get hidden behind someone

Anyway, didn't buy much, some oriental poppies Ladybird and Victoria Cross. Also bought some Morning Glory (Split Personality), Stock (Tudor Tapestry) Nemesia (Tapestry) and Falstaff brussel sprouts. Also bought some Sweet Peas Highly Perfumed selection which cost £6 for 120 seeds which I thought was good value for money. Varietys are Bridget Elizabeth, Moorland Beauty, Albutt Blue, Annie Conole, Bristol Cream and Tim Cordy.

Mum and me had a fab but tiring day with the heat and humidity but it was great to spend time with her. I still think Malvern Autumn Show is the best in the country cos I keep going back to it.

So, that was my day, quality time with my old mum :D
Lots of love

Dear Lizzie, so glad you and your mum had the best of days. :D
I was just wondering what your Mums version of the day would be, wonder if it would go something like this.
We both had a very pleasant day, even with Lizzie being unable to stop herself picking up and looking at every plant and packet of seeds in sight.
I bought her an icecream which she promptly dropped down her new frock.
She loved the granite waterfall and loved splashing the water when no one was looking.
Lizzie got a bit grizzly near the end, but it had been a long day for her.
So, that was my day, quality time with my young Lizzie. :D

I liked the morning glory you bought, split personality.

Really am glad you both enjoyed it.

Kind regards Old Herbaceous.

Theres no fool like an old fool.

How did you know I behaved like that Herby?

I'm a good girl me, sometimes, now and then, ok occasionally

Didn't realise the name of the Morning Glory until I bought it. I just liked the colours, bright cerise/salmon pink with a big white circle around the stamens and feint green lines over the white eye. Very pretty.

Bit like me really, not

The queue for ice cream was about half an hour long. Didn't get any porkers cos of the heat and I would never have found the stall again. They had a really tasty lamb with rosemary and redcurrant jelly porker which was delicious.

Did buy a jar of onion marmalade which will be put onto large field mushrooms with Wenslydale cheese then grilled until melted. Yummy

Now, does anyone know how to get ice cream out of my frock 8)
Lots of love

Don't know Peter, I didn't catch it all, will have to watch first 15-20 mins on teleport.

As I said, you can't see me anyway, i'm behind the big bloke. The garden they were filming had black bricks as a backdrop. Maybe it'll be on tomorrow.
Lots of love

Lizzie
