Just back from Tatton Park and boy was it hot, sticky and humid. The show was fine but usual lack of veg. The usual suspects were there, T&M and one other whose name escapes me at the moment.
Some of the show gardens were fantastic. My complete favourite was Aughton Green in association with The Big Pond Company. It was a series of terraces constructed in granite. Coming down it was a meandering waterfall that cascaded gently to the bottom terrace where it formed a shallow, beach like pool. This was planted up with water lilys.
The plants consisted of low and medium growing shrubs and perennials in shades of red, blue, white, pink and cream. There was loads of varigated foliage in shades of yellow, cream, black and red.
I have totally fallen in love with this garden. Absolutly breathtaking.
My other favourite was the Anthony Nolan garden that was set out quite cottagey in a square planting pattern with loads of colour. I could live with either but the first one i've descibed is my favourite. If I ever get a garden, that's what I want part of it to be like. It's how i've always pictured it to be.
I was nearly filmed at a garden with black brick walls (couldn't see the name cos it was packed) You can't see me but i'm behing the big bloke!!
Anyway, didn't buy much, some oriental poppies Ladybird and Victoria Cross. Also bought some Morning Glory (Split Personality), Stock (Tudor Tapestry) Nemesia (Tapestry) and Falstaff brussel sprouts. Also bought some Sweet Peas Highly Perfumed selection which cost £6 for 120 seeds which I thought was good value for money. Varietys are Bridget Elizabeth, Moorland Beauty, Albutt Blue, Annie Conole, Bristol Cream and Tim Cordy.
Mum and me had a fab but tiring day with the heat and humidity but it was great to spend time with her. I still think Malvern Autumn Show is the best in the country cos I keep going back to it.
So, that was my day, quality time with my old mum
