Have just done the first "moss rake", after dowsing the lawn in "lawn sand" and watching it turn black with "dead" moss. But every year I seem to get more moss; this year I've raked four big wheelbarrows full from a piece of lawn 5m square. And there's still lots left! Just how effective IS "moss killer". Is there a dressing that really does kill it, with less infestation every year?

John, does the lawn get a lot of wear and compaction? Have you spiked the soil with a fork before applying the sand, try and brush the sand into the holes, to help drainage. avoid walking on the lawn when wet, this will add to the compaction and waterlogging. Moss likes damp and shade.
