Hello Geacher
I haven't ever plucked a goose or a turkey but we do sometimes have one of our hens for Sunday lunch.
The best way that we eventually found was to pluck the bird within a couple of hours after slaughter while it is still warm. The feathers came out easily. We do it outside with the bird hanging from its legs at about chest height but even so you'll need to get togged up in overalls and a hat - the feathers go everywhere. We slaughter a few days before eating and keep it in the frig till then. Its quite tiring work so don't try to do all six in one go! I don't think poultry need hanging like game birds.
It depends how you slaughter but you might need to bleed the birds immediately after dispatching them.
Hope this helps
