Just wondering if anyone has got, The art of allotments. Culture and cultivation by David Crouch.
I was given this book for christmas and only got round to looking at it last night.
I just wanted to know if it is any of you old girls on page 21, if so can you come and give me a hand on my allotment.
A very amused Old herbaceous.

Anyone got this book

Hello Grock it's nice to see you back.
Well on page 21 there is, oh while i think of it you could buy your son a harpoon gun, it'll be a lot simpler than putting all that bait on the hook.
Back to page 21, well it's quiet ordinary really five women tending there allotment doing all the normal jobs, weeding, harvesting and one of them is carrying a bundle of prickly sticks.
The only strange thing is they are all completely starkers.I don't know if this is the normal thing up north, but we find it bit strange down here.
I bet Piglet will be straight on Ebay on the gardening section of books.
A slightly embarrassed old herbaceous.
When i'm not fishing i'm mending my nets.
Hope your feeling a lot better now Grock.

Well it's certainly not featuring me, although I can't vouch for the others.
There was a thread on the old forum about dancing naked round the plot by moonlight, perhaps it does happen but I'd be worried about getting spiked all over the place. Piglet managed to get skewered in the arse by an Agave in his greenhouse, although he didn't actually say if he was clothed at the time. Hmmm

Dear Old Herbaceous,
I have a copy, and mine's autographed! I got it at strawberry fair in Cambridge where the Central council of Cambridge allotments had a stall and I was helping to run it. I had been for a wander round (as one does at these things) and bought it off a bookstall. Later on this chap came to our stall and started chatting to us and introduced himself. I thought hang on a mo I know that name and fished around in my bag, produced the book and a pen and got him to sign it. I don't think he had been asked to sign many, so you never know it might be valuable one day... (in my dreams girl!)
Regards Sally wright.

now that gave me an idea, wasnt someone asking about fund raising for their plot.i know the womens institute done a callender naked, why not a naked gardener,im sure theres plenty of strawberrys and chillies out there to hide the boys bits
the tart and i would need one of those giant pumkins to hide behind
You sure chillies around bits are a good idea Grock? - could smart a bit
I'll go for hiding behind the compost bin with a strategically placed sunflower or three. That should prevent scaring the livestock too much
Haven't got the Art of the Allotment, but have got Allotment Folk by Chris Opperman. It's loads of little stories about what people get up to on their plots. 1 guy grows 100 kilos of tobacco a year (legal if it's for your own use) and vines for homebrew wine - his websites are www.coffinails.com and www.fdw.com (falling down water) if anyone is interested. I'm a non-smoker myself but admire the man's style.
Mind you another guy stages experimental theatre on his including a dancer buried in the soil up to her knees on his plot, so it takes all sorts
Sue

Grock i think if we start doing calenders with us covering up with certain vegetables we will all get locked up. And Sue i reckon its a waste of good ground to grow tabbaco on, but i think the dancing girl is alright.
Kind regards a smiling Old herbaceous.
