The potatoes growing in my raised beds have just gone down with blight as usual, thanks to the very damp weather we experiencing in Cornwall. However I do have a large potato plant growing out of my compost bin which is blight free at the moment. Can I eat the potatoes that come from this plant?

I can't think of any reason why not. It will certainly have had plenty of nutrients to grow in! My neighbour at the allotment regularly harvests potatoes from his compost heap and he is still here to tell the tale! Cheers.

I dug up my blighted spuds tonight and they were fine and very tasty. I'll use these up first and then try the compost bin spuds. Thanks for you reply.

They should be fine providing there are no rats in your compsot bin.
