I discovered a lot of tiny white insects (few mm) on my cos lettuce leaves yesterday. Easy to shake off the leaf they don't appear to fly away but dorp off and they don't seem to be eating the leaves.
Do I need to tackle them or just wash off before I eat the lettuce. If I do need to tackle them, what with?
Thanks
Jo

Have you got greenfly? These may be the skins, which are cast off as the aphids develop. You might do well to have a more thorough search about your lettuces, to see that there are no aphids lurking in the nooks and crannies.
Allotment, but little achieved.
