Nemaslugs

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Nemaslug. Does this, apparent lifesaver of the allotment, work? We're despairing and at times getting to the point of giving up, as it seems often pointless to even plant anything as slugs seem to love our plot on the allotment. We have tried one small batch of nemaslug which may have done something (not sure as there wasn't much for them to eat there anyway), but can anyone confirm it's long term use?
We have tried viertually every other method of getting rid of them to no avail. NB we're trying to be as organic as possible.

Been thanked: 1 time

I've used Nemaslug successfully on the potatoes for the past two years, but I've not bought any this year yet. The best way is to do slug hunts at night and gather them up and take them far away - if you don't want to kill them. I take mine to the wood so the birds and hedgehogs can eat them there. There are lots of hedgehogs in our garden every night and we've a pond with dozens of frogs, but there are still a lot of slugs.

I can't do without slug pellets (the supposedly bird and animal safe ones) around new seed beds and newly planted seedlings as I wouldn't get a crop at all, but if you are persistent with all the above methods you can greatly reduce the number of slugs and get good crops.

Hi. I think Nemaslug is successful regarding Keel slugs, which live underground and attack potatoes and other root crops. Not sure if it is effective in the slime brigade which lives on the surface and devours everything with leaves. I too rely on slug pellets and hand picking. ugh! cheers.
Happy with my lot
