Problem with Raspbery Canes

Hi

I noticed this weekend that some of my otherwise very healthy raspberry canes seem to be breaking off at the top of the canes (the part with all the flowers & young fruit!). The top 4-6 inches seem to start to wither & the stem then breaks about 4-6 inches down.

Is it a pest doing the damage and any ideas how I can solve it. Last year I had so much fruit from these plants & would hate to love them.

are they whipping about in the wind and simply snapping ? in which case the whithering would come after the snapping, not before.

Hmm, could be I guess as some of the taller ones are oveer 6' tall, but I think some of the shorter ones which are more sheltered are also breaking. I'll double check anyway and thanks for the tip.
