Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I have been growing vegetables in pots last year but i decided to use some ground this year and i have noticed some wee holes in the leaves of my sweetcorn and broccoli. I have seen ants about but no greenfly. I was told to use soapy water in a spray bottle, under the leaves, would this work? Can anyone help me? What is doing this to my veg? Should i get rid and start again?

Soapy water works well on greenfly so long as it makes contact with them. But greenfly don't make holes, so it probably isn't them. So long as they are only 'wee' holes as you say, I wouldn't worry too much.

Hi Micky

"Wee holes" in brassicas are likely to be flea beetle.
As for sweetcorn it won't be flea beetle, and I echo Geoff's question.
