I harvested mine last week. I wanted the ground to put the brassicas in, so I lifted them all, dried them out for a few hours and then bagged them up. I keep them in the cellar and use the paper sacks the hen food comes in to store them.
I find that the slugs move in if I leave them in the soil after they are ready, so they are better lifted and stored in a cool dark place.
I watered the beds with nematodes in spring and have hardly had any slug damage at all this year, probably only ten potatoes in total out of several hundred potatoes.
