mould on spuds & garlic

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

I had to dig up the spuds this weekend as they all died back over the course of a week, some of the tubers had rotted and were covered in a grey mould other tubers were in perfect condition on the same plant up to nine iches long and sound as a bell. Some of the galic had the same mould and starting to rot others were unaffected. It's a new plot i have a wheat field behind the plot and none of my niegbours do a veggie plot any ideas thanks.

Botrytis, most likely. Dispose of all affected plant material. Very common, but no the biggest heart acke, should die out in cold weather with good hygiene.
