Just come back from a weekend away to find that a few of my cabbages (of which I have never grown before) have gone to seed (I think), it seems that where the head of the cabbage would normally form tightly some little flower buds have formed instead :(
What does this mean, am I doing things wrong, I did put some manure at the roots when planted was this wrong? So what to do now, do I dig the thing up which seems a bit waste or can I use the leaves for spring greens?

Hi Skinny_bum,
When did you plant these cabbages?

Hi JB,
Planted them quite early, maybe even under cover at the end of last year, I cant remember the time, I just know it was early.
Funny though as not all of them have run, if that is what has happened, some have full tight heads and one is near ready to eat.
SB
