I need to thin out some carrots and radishes that i planted about 4 weeks ago, I have read various articles of how to do this, but they dont say how much space to leave between each shoot.

Could someone give me some advice please.

Thanks Mike

Dear Tiltonblue, unless your Radishes are very thick they should be fine, they only need about half an inch between themselves.

As for the Carrots it depends what sort you are growing, if they are earlies about an inch apart will do, with large maincrop Carrots you can leave as much as two to three inches between them.
Don't forget you can use the thinnings if they are of a usable size, what they will be with your maincrop.
You don't have to thin them to those distances all in one go, but the more you thin, the more it will attract the Carrot fly.

It does pay not to sow to thickly to save on thinning, and some people use pelleted seeds to sow even more accurately.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

Many Thanks OH,

The radishes look good, but

it was my first attempt with carrots, and i was a bit over zealous with the scattering of the seeds, I will now for next year.
