Our IT man has just posted this, Quite nasty by the sound of it.
You should be alert during the next few days. Do not open any message with an attachment entitled 'POSTCARD,' regardless of who sent it to you. It is a virus which opens A POSTCARD IMAGE, which 'burns' the whole hard disc C of your computer. This virus will be received from someone who has your e-mail address in his/her contact list. This is the reason why you need to send this e-mail to all your contacts It is better to receive this message 25 times than to receive the virus and open it.
If you receive a mail called' POSTCARD,' even though sent to you by a friend, do not open it! Shut down your computer immediately.
This is the worst virus announced by CNN. It has been classified by Microsoft as the most destructive virus ever. This virus was discovered by McAfee yesterday, and there is no repair yet for this kind of virus. This virus simply destroys the Zero Sector of the Hard Disc, where the vital information is kept.
new serious virus

This one has been around since February so the virus protection guys must have come up with something by now, I hope.
There is however, another warning going around, which is very similar and is a hoax.
Life is very confusing sometimes...
Go to http://www.snopes.com/computer/virus/postcard.asp for more information on both.

OH
Don't worry! It's a hoax.
Honestly, I'm surely not the only heartily sick of the Postcard warning.

If I'm honest, whenever I receive virus warnings, chain emails, money fairy emails, most jokes (there are very few either new or good ones out there) etc etc, I never forward them on.
I have this image of everyone that receives these things emailing them to everyone in their address book and thus causing zillions of emails to hit cyberspace. I get sent several every day so clearly my friends believe in them
To me they are modern day chain letters and I never fell for them either

Some years ago someone told me to put the following address at the head of my address book....
!1000
It is supposed to prevent a virus travelling through your address book and mailing everyone on it... so far so good

I am in my own little world, ...it's OK, ...they know me there!
