can anyone recommend a spam filter?

Hi All

haven't posted to here for ages cos i forgot my username....(doh!) and have changed e-mail addresses. Anyway, am back now so here goes....

Can anyone suggest a good spam filter? I need one that shoves suspected spam into a folder rather than deleting it - cos the filter I have on my BT e-dress regularly filters out non-spam messages. it's a bit of a pain going through the spam folder every day to fish them out again, but better than losing them altogether...

Cheapo would be good to, but what do other people use?

BT seem to have a very poor spam filter system, and when I was on BT - their account seemed to attract large amounts of spam.

If you are still downloading email to your computer - the first thing I'd advise you doing is stop.
Use the webmail function - get a free hotmail or gmail account and use it as your email address for social sites and non-vital emails - or even just switch completely to a new free account.

Downloading email can be very dangerous - and is not recommended.

If you must download - ensure your preview pane is off. Ensure your anti-virus is updated daily, and you screen unknown emails very carefully before opening them.

I stopped downloading mail years ago - and simply use gmail or hotmail for all contacts.

I use cloudmark which really seems to get rid of the masses that I get. It puts it into a spam folder which whenever i check is all spam. Really quick too though not free.

I agree with KG - these very large service providers seem to be fair game for spammers. I used to be with the awful AOL and was constantly pestered with loads of it. I switched to a smaller provider, got a better service and rarely get any spam now. I also use Thunderbird and this is very good at spotting the stuff but I'm not sure if it can filter it and dump it into another folder.
