Is it too late to sow celeriac? I've not grown it before and wonder whether it's one of these slow maturing roots like parnsips which needs a long growing time into the winter before it becomes big enough to use?
Hi Primrose,
Sadly I fear that you are far too late to sow Celeriac for this year.
Celeriac should be sown in February and March transplanted out April and May for an intended harvest in October onwards.
Have it down as a 'to do' for next year.
JB.

Thanks. I'd ordered some plug plants from a supplier which were promised for mid May. They still haven't arrived and I'm assuming their germination may have failed so I thought I'd have a last ditch attempt at sowing. Seems my celeriac will have to be shop bought this autumn !
Primrose, I have only just transplanted my celeriac plants (Prinz) to the outside and I have quite a few left over. Do contact me (butlermillholme@btinternet.com) with your postal address and I will post them first class straight away. They are yousrs for free.
