I had a load of logs delivered from the local estate today, they have gone up to ninety five pounds this year, this is for a good transit truck load of seasoned ash that are stored under cover, i would say there about 1 1/2 cubic yards of logs.
I was wondering what other people are paying for theirs this year. :?:

One more point, i think that the price of logs, really will rocket over the next few years as more people are going back to burning logs.
I know that the big timber hauling firms can't keep up with the demand this year, so that will only mean one thing.

And one more thing, has anyone started their Christmas shopping yet. :wink:

round here we do jobs for logs!
dh mends pc's that's the simplest term for it-so we had our 1st pile delivered for free by the most gorg young man last week!!(made me feel old n frumpy!! :oops: )
needless to say the pile is going down the quickest it ever has-no doubt i'll get the toothless old delivery man next time!
I've not only bought nearly all my gifts OH but i've wrapped the majority too! :wink:
PS-yours is on its way :lol:

the load of logs was app equivallent to £40
there were loads!
i say were cos ive used over half and they are well seasoned

Good morning Jopsy, i've now got this image of you all sitting there sweltering in the heat of the log fire, just so you can get your next delivery of logs :D :wink:
You are well organized, having all your presents bought and wrapped, and there was me thinking that you would leave every thing to the last minute. :shock: :D :wink:
I like leaving buying presents to last thing Chritmas eve, you can get some bargain real Christmas trees, but there a real pain to wrap up. :? :wink:
It's a bit quiet on the old K.G don't you think, a few to many office parties maybe. :twisted:

we had christmas dinner at one of the brother on laws last night and got shot of most of the xmas pressies for neices and nephews , only got our kids to wrap now, :D which we will no doubt end up doing on xmas eve as usual. t'other brother in law flew in from spain friday night, stood by the baggage carosel in tee shirt with his book waiting for his case, guess what it never turned up, hes now collecting it at the airport on his way out on monday :? so our pressies wil be on their way back to spain :!:

With regard to logs, I just got a load of hardwood off cuts £30 for about 3/4 of a cubic metre. They burn quite well but dont looks as homely in the log basket as real split logs, but hey needs must. As I have time off at the moment, I am going out for a walk and filing a small rucksack (not too big after my operation)

Have also done all my shopping, but once again this is down to having time on my hands, tomorrow I might even wrap em whilst OH is at work, which will also be a first.

What I WON'T be doing is putting up the tree or the subtle outside lights till nearer the day, its my bit towards saving the planet and keeping Christmas a bit special.

Herby, a local company do barn dried logs for £135 for a 3cubic metre load. I however have just corded and stacked around 5 ton of oak ready for next year.

There is something most gratifying about chopping wood. I find oak and yew best to burn followed by the other hardwoods.

Hi OH !

I took delivery of a tonne of barn-dried hardwood logs yesterday lunchtime, and paid £50. They're SO clean, there's not even a cobweb on them. I'm dead impressed with the quality, and the quantity for the price (no inuendos intended...), and seeing as Trousers has got his Gout back again, I moved them all off the drive and into the cottage in two hours flat so he didn't have to do it when he got home from work. Aren't I sweet ?

As for Christmas shopping, I'm BANG up to date, rather unusually, having spent a GORGEOUS day in Monmouth with Mrs. Piglet, where we shopped til we dropped, and I found just everything to make Trousers's Christmas Wishes come true...

Compo, this is VERY off topic, but shouldn't you reverse the order of the second and last items in your signature :?
