I've just found this site and liked a lot of the topics, so hello from me. :) I like gardening, especially fruit and veg, and cooking and processing from the garden.

Hi Chrissy and welcome.

You'll get loads of advice from the folk on here.

Just don't take any notice of Old Herbacious. He tells porkies

There is always somebody out there that knows the answer to that gardening problem that has been bugging you for ages.

I love cooking, got two allotments, picked 12lb of runner beans and 6lb of french beans on Sunday trouble is I dont like veg, only growing it, so my poor husband and kids get veged out. Still I give lots away to friends and donate some to the kids swimming club which they sell on to raise funds.

Well - that was a baptism of fire!

Some of us are gardeners and cooks.

Some aren't.

Generally, all of us have an opinion and most of us think that we have a definitive opinion.

Most of us are deluded.

Welcome.

Thanks for the welcomes. You sound a bit of a barking assorted bunch - I think I'll like it here! :)

I have a garden and am debating about taking on half an allotment as well. I ought to just go for it before they're all taken I think even if I can't give it all the time I'd like right now. Maybe those with allotments could advise. :?:

Hi there Chrissy and welcome!
You can manage an allotment on just a sunday visit a week, as long as you don't mind a few weeds!
My mum and I took home a whole car boot full of produce last week, and she said we must be doing something right, despite the rampant bindweed!
Happy growing!

Im no vegetarian, hate veg love meat, espically bacon sarnie with lots of tomato sauce and mushrooms.

I just love growing veg. We are away soon for the week so my trusted friend keeps her eye on things down the allotments and fills her freezer with runner beans etc till I come home. Jackie enjoys all the fresh veg she can have, and I know that things will be ship shape and Bristol fashion when I get back. I just hope she eats or gives away some of my giant courgets that have got out of hand

Well, I'm at work and I'm saying hello!
I used to run an allotment on a few hours a week so it can be done. Just post here for advice and you'll get lots of contradicting answers that'll just confuse you! :D

Thanks all, I'll ring up about one next week. I know there are a few untended but that doesn't mean they are up for grabs. I could do a few hours a week, and you don't have to cultivate it all at once do you?

Vicki what a good idea sharing the work and produce with someone. I would ask my O/H but he's a gardener and you know what that means - I do all ours.

Lovely to meet you all.
