Sarah Ravens advocates growing beetroot in polystyrene boxes in a cold greenhouse during late winter/spring, but I don't know about the autumn. I would have thought it's worth a try.

I would imagine that your temperature should be OK to start your beetroots out of the green house and bring them in later on. You could be pulling Baby beets in about 8 weeks and not need your greenhouse at all.

You might find it helps germination to soak the seed cluster overnight before planting and keep the seed bed wet, this time of year it soon dried up!

Good luck.

Been thanked: 1 time

I'm not sure if you're asking this because you can't grow it outside for some reason so ignore this if you only have the greenhouse space available.

Last year I started beetroot outside in August/September and fleeced it when the weather turned cold. I was pulling beetroot right through until February; not big ones, about golf ball sized, but good enough for me. :D
