We moved into this house a year ago. There's an orchard area beside the house with plums, pears, apples and a cherry. At least I thought it was a cherry, but I only have experience of flowering cherry. Last year I didn't see any fruit. This somehow didn't tally with the character of the man who had owned the house before us. He just wasn't the sort to plant a flowering cherry. This week I looked out of the bedroom window and there are cherries developing which you can't see easily from the ground. Any advice on cherry trees would be most welcome, before I have time to look it up.

Cherries pretty much just do their own thing Jane, but if the tree is so big you can only see the cherries from above and you have no chance of putting a net over then the birds will probably have them before they're ripe. If you can net it then do it quick!
