Do you use melon bras or do you just let them swing?

I usually support each fruit in a net bag that lemons or the like come in but they are a bit fiddly to set up. I'm sure I've read or heard somewhere recently that this is unnecessary. Any thoughts?

I got fab melons last year - tried the old pantyhose slings but didn't secure tight enough so just let them get on with it - no problems! Also found some article that said it wasn't necessary & to trust nature's design. By default I did that & stems well tough enough to support them. They were only the mini watermelons though so could be different for other varieties.
