Rhubarb does tend to do this at the start of the season and if grown from seed, especially in adverse weather. Just cut that bit right out and carry on normally. A nitrogenous feed might help it along, rhubarb doesn't benefit from much else but if applied as muck or similar the organic content could improve the condition of the soil and reduce evaporation. It might be judicious to pick the very minimum for this year to let the crown settle in.

Thanks for that I have a similar problem this year and it might be that we took on a second half allotment last year, I scattered the normal fertilzers for fruit as that is all we are growing on it so there might have been too much there for the rhubarb which we decided to put there too ,so will take up your reccomendation of a nitrogen feed and see if it stops it ,
thankx Fuchsia :D
