I was watching his programme on Alsace cooking featuring varieties of French onions and wonder if anybody knows whether sets of the long shallot shape "chicken thigh" onions we saw are available in the UK?. I've done a brief internet search but haven't found any supplier.

Not seen the programme but we have long shaped shallots in Morrisons which look good.

You could grow them from seed - we are still using last year's.
