Lazy dog owner who does not clean up after the dog!!

I live in a beautiful area and regularly walk up our main road with fab views to take other paths off into the countryside.

The problem is that the footpath is covered in dog poo, someone is walking up the footpath then coming back and not clearing up after the dog. It is a large dog by the size of the poos:evil:

It is obviously a regular walk as there are various stages of poo washing away in the rain we have had.

Today I was driving down through the village and saw an elderly man walking a very large dog. I drove past him as he was walking up through the village on the very path. So I turned round and drove back past him. "Stalker came to mind" He had turned round and was walking back down the footpath. I think I have found our lazy dog walker, but unless someone sees him doing it (I mean his dog) no one will be able to do anything about it.

I am going to get in touch with the Parish Council to see what can be done. I am not talking about a couple of dollops I am talking about two dozen at least.

It makes it difficult to walk on this foot path without being very careful where you put your feet.

I know it is the same dog as he feeds it the same food all the time so it is the same size and colour all the time.

Sorry to rant on but I am really fed with this problem.

A couple of weeks ago I was sitting in my car on a car park minding my own business when a women parked her car, got out with a small dog and proceeded to take the dog over to the grass verge where it proceeded to poo. Then she looked around to see if anyone was looking and walked away. So I got out of my car and called to her and asked her if she was going to clear the dog mess she had left behind. She was really shocked that someone had actually said something and was really cross. But she said that she was about to clear it up. She had no bag with her and had obviously no intention of clearing anything up. She went back to her car and had to search for a bag, (she was parked two cars away from me). Then went back to clear the mess up but could not remember where it was.

This makes me so mad.

I get really angry with the morons who carefully bag it and either leave the bag Hung from a branch / bramble or on the ground.

Presumably in the expectation that the mysterious "they" will collect and dispose of the bag for them.

At least the open air ones eventualy disperse.

This is my one big pet hate. I think of myself as reasonably tolerant (others may disagree!) but this is just so so stupid, there is no sense behind it whatever.Grrrrrr.

Yes, it's always been one of my bugbears too. We live on a council estate....not that it should make any difference where you live...and some years ago,at my previous house, I had a problem with a lazy dog owner. This was also before the advent of clearing your dogs mess up, I might add.

Every morning, right beside my front gate post, was a huge dog poo...and I'm talking cow pat size..which I cleared away. Eventually, after watching out for weeks, I caught the dog and owner responsible...the dog, a huge Great Dane, was caught in the act, so to speak. I had a jug of water ready, opened the door and chucked it over the dog. This irate bloke came over and tried telling me off but he got more than he bargained for, as I told him in no uncertain terms what I thought. It turned out, that he only lived round the corner in the next close (he actually had his slippers on) and his indignant explanation was that his neighbours had complained they didn't want the dog fouling their place, so he had started taking it somewhere else!!!!!!

I suggested that he let the dog use his own garden and he was amazed at the very idea.
It makes me mad just remembering it.

Oh and just recently, I watched a man clear up after his dog, then toss the bag into the shrubbery...right beside one of those bins which are specifically for dog poo. I said, "You missed." He just looked at me and walked by!

What is wrong with these people??

i caught a lady allowing her dog to foul ON my driveway a few years ago. I had just come out of the doorr. I yelled at her asking how would she like it if I came and reciprocated on her doorstep. she was really embarrased and quickly tried to pick it all up and run away! Absolutely foul behaviour. if you don't want to pick up poop, then don't own a dog. end of.

This really annoys me too as it means that people are less tolerant of dogs being allowed into public gardens etc as they think we are all the same and likely to leave mess around. It also gives responsible dog owners a bad press. On holiday walks I've been know to carry a bag of poo around for ages until I find a bin to pop it in some places just don't provide enough bins and could encourage owners to be inconsiderate. No such problem on home turf. having said that I get so annoyed at the amount of litter too.

A town centre near to my sister has just been repaved - it looked great but already is marred by hundreds of chewing gums blotches.

I'm a dog owner too and it really bugs me when other people don't pick up after their dogs, it isn't the dog's fault it's irresponsible owners. It's one of my pet hates when people go to all the trouble of scooping it up and then leaving the bag somewhere instead of putting it in the bin! What is the point!?

One the worst issues in life ..dog poo..living near the coast many dog owners just allow dogs to poo on the beache , assuming the tide washes the beastly stuff away.I challenged this once and received a real mouthfull of abuse..and sadly my grandson ended up with the mess on his shoes !!!
Why the law will not punish or prosecute dog owners I cannot understand..just name and shame , publish photos on local papers !!!

Lie in wait with a camera Catherine and then print out the image and stick it high up on the nearest lamp post - high enough for him not to be able to reach! Add a caption asking him to pick it up!

Good idea though I have been up and down this road quite a lot recently I have never seen him before. I am going to mention to someone who lives in the village and who looks after the Best Kept Village side of things to see if they can do anything.

It’s a dog’s life.
I love rushing up to people, especially old ladies or children, and running round them barking my head off. My master tells them I’m such a lovely old dog and that I won’t bite so I jump up at them instead. My master lets me leave nasty messages everywhere for people to tread in. If somebody sees us he will pick them up with a plastic bag but as soon as he can he’ll throw it away in a hedge or over a garden wall. When I’m left alone at home I get very sad so I bark and howl all the time. Our grumpy neighbours are always complaining about this.
I really don’t like postman or paperboys at all. When they come round I hurl myself at the front door, bark like mad then rip up the letters and papers. On a good day I can get them by the fingers.
Some of my chums have had a bad time recently when walking in the forest. They enjoyed frightening the birds and the deer then tried to make friends with the local wild pigs. Not a good idea as they were badly mauled by these ignorant beasts. It should be all right soon though as our masters are demanding that the Forestry Commission shoot all the pigs.

Some very true parts John.
We have a small dog that we always keep on a lead - it can be a nightmare when out walking her as other 'free' dogs come hurtling up with owners saying he/she won't hurt. The problem is that when they are hurtling up to you you don't have time to decide whether they are friendly or not and our dog certainly doesn't understand they won't hurt.

If dogs have to be off their leads then they should be under control.

We used to go on a few days' holiday every year on the Lincolnshire coast - lots of sandy beaches, no caravans, great bird watching area, and our greatest thrill was walking barefoot for miles along the shallow sea (summer or winter) as it was going out or coming in. But then, within a few years, the dog owners seemed to take over and walked their charges (sometimes several of them) along that same beach. I know, when the tide comes in, all the dog poo will be washed away and will become "a drop in the ocean", but the thought of putting my bare tootsies where they have just pooed, just did not appeal. It really put me off going altogether. Shame that.
I confess that I am not a dog person, other than having them for work purposes, like guard, sheep or guide dogs, but can see that they give other people much pleasure and company. But I do wish the owners would recognise that there is a responsibility and duty attached to dog owning as well!

A few years ago Gwynedd Council spent a considerable sum of money turning the former marshland in the centre of Pwllheli into a nature reserve. The new paths were soon colonised by selfish and thoughtless dog walkers and the paths shit-covered. A campaign of publicity and fines has improved things no end. Are you responsible for making a child blind?
Dog faeces contain the eggs of parasitic worms called Toxocara canis. The can live in humans and cause blindness, especially in children.
Eggs can survive in the ground for up to 2 years after the muck has disappeared. You can avoid this by regularly worming your dog.

Show a bit of respect for the children in your community!
Clean up after your dog and put the mess in the bin, and if you can't see a bin, take it home!
