Blight on Cauliflower

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Morning, I am having a bit of an issue with blight attacking my cauliflower. I am assumming that it is blight. They are black little bugs, that are surrounded by white (ish) looking eggs and a buried deep between the new leaves and cauliflower.
First of all, what is it?? and secondly how do I get rid of them?
Thank you Daisy

It won't be blight Daisy as cauliflowers don't suffer from blight. Are you sure that the black bits are actually bugs and not caterpillars droppings? Have you holes in the leaves? Can you give more information?

Not blight.

more likely to be caterpillars as they leave those tell-tale heaps of dark green droppings and they do like to lurk among the tasty new growth. You can pick off individuals and squish them or if that's too messy for you drop them into a bowl of salt water.

The answer for next year is to cover your brassicas with fine mesh netting to keep the butterflies away.
