Congratulations - that's so exciting. I'm all for the virtual hen party - especially as lots of people seem to making homemade wine!!

Gosh, you don't log in for one evening, and look what happens!

Thankyou all so much for your congratulations!
We have been together for nearly 6 years, so it is about time!
I will be making my dress (OH, will it be white?? well.......)
growing my own flowers
& my mum is making the cake

We can of course have a virtual hen night, I'd love to, even though I don't know quite how it works!! I shall be drinking homemade wine of some variety!!

Gosh, this is sooooo exciting!!!

Oh, and Alan, I love your little proposal smilie, very cute!!!

Dear Retropants, i think that is very special, growing your own flowers and making your own dress (what ever colour :) ) and also your Mum making the cake, just lovely

Will your wedding be in the near future?
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.

OH, we have tentatively decided on the date 27 Feb 2010!

I will be attempting to force some Anemone Coronaria 'de Caen' to flower at the end of Feb. This is apparently achievable in a heated greenhouse. Any tips would be greatly appreciated ;)

We are on a shoe string budget, and I think the amount of money people spend on weddings these days is obscene. Apparently the UK average wedding costs £17,000.

It obviously needs to be a special, wonderful day, but releasing doves, giving wedding favours etc etc, what on earth is that all about? I will also be making the invites, after all they'll just end up in the bin along with the christmas cards from this year!! Am I overstretching myself a bit? Probably, but my finances are not very elastic!!

Hurray Retropants at last some common sense :D I bet you'll have a wonderful day ,if you make your invites people probably won't throw them in the bin.some of the best weddings i've been to have been done on a shoestring.Surely the gathering of people you care about and who care about you celebrating your marriage is what it's all about :D

I agree about weddings being too extravagant. x years ago I made my wedding dress and veil and a bridesmaids dress. I had a couple of relations marry at the same time and spend a small fortune. But guess which of us is still married to the same person?

Happy party then. When do you want us to have it?

I'm in married year of 33 plus and another one who made her own dress as well as the bridesmaids.

Clever Tigger, making your own bridesmaids, too. :D

We got married on a very small budget too, and had the best of days.

I can knit you one Alan, if you send the wool. You might need a lot of pink, though, especially if she is generously endowed...

Thanks Alan, I'll make a start this evening. It might take a while, as I don't have much free time at present, with the allotment and all, but I'll do my best. :D
