Gosh, you don't log in for one evening, and look what happens!
Thankyou all so much for your congratulations!
We have been together for nearly 6 years, so it is about time!
I will be making my dress (OH, will it be white?? well.......)
growing my own flowers
& my mum is making the cake
We can of course have a virtual hen night, I'd love to, even though I don't know quite how it works!! I shall be drinking homemade wine of some variety!!
Gosh, this is sooooo exciting!!!
Oh, and Alan, I love your little proposal smilie, very cute!!!

) and also your Mum making the cake, just lovely
Will your wedding be in the near future?

OH, we have tentatively decided on the date 27 Feb 2010!
I will be attempting to force some Anemone Coronaria 'de Caen' to flower at the end of Feb. This is apparently achievable in a heated greenhouse. Any tips would be greatly appreciated
We are on a shoe string budget, and I think the amount of money people spend on weddings these days is obscene. Apparently the UK average wedding costs £17,000.
It obviously needs to be a special, wonderful day, but releasing doves, giving wedding favours etc etc, what on earth is that all about? I will also be making the invites, after all they'll just end up in the bin along with the christmas cards from this year!! Am I overstretching myself a bit? Probably, but my finances are not very elastic!!

Hurray Retropants at last some common sense
I bet you'll have a wonderful day ,if you make your invites people probably won't throw them in the bin.some of the best weddings i've been to have been done on a shoestring.Surely the gathering of people you care about and who care about you celebrating your marriage is what it's all about
sanity is overrated

I agree about weddings being too extravagant. x years ago I made my wedding dress and veil and a bridesmaids dress. I had a couple of relations marry at the same time and spend a small fortune. But guess which of us is still married to the same person?
