Back in the summer on a nice hot day hubby came home from work to find me in the garden snoozing on the sun bed with the dog .... He looked hot and bothered after a long drive from London so I said lay down here while I go and make you a cuppa .... I went back with the cuppa probally about half an hour later as I tend to potter while waiting for the kettle and forget about making the tea.... Anyhow by then he was fast asleep with his shoes and socks off on the lawn beside him.. So I got out the other bed and sat beside him and read for another hour or so.... As it chilled we decided to go in and hubby bent to pick up shoes and socks only one sock was missing , we hunted for a while in/ under the beds around the lawn area and finally decided the dog must of gone off with it and we would find it later in her bed or some where ...... It was then forgotten about .....
Move forward to today......
I have just been cleaning out the shed/greenhouse and sat to admire my work for a mo on a bale of straw which has been in the corner of the shed for a couple of years since we had chickens .... There poking out of the straw was a small piece of black cotton material .... I parted the straw around the sock to find it had been used as a mouse nest with the toe area nibbled out to make a opening .... inside I found a number of my seeds and a thistle head and feathers , it all looked very cosy and well stocked for the winter ..... But I still finding it hard to believe that back in the summer this mouse ran across the lawn and dragged the sock all the way back to the shed climbed the bale with it and went to all the trouble of lining the straw with it ....Amazing
My generous hubby said its ok he can keep it as I have brought some more
If I could of done it my way I would of done it by now .......

Very funny, I wish that was where my OH's socks disappear to. I think we have a sock thief who lives under the floor boards and comes out when the socks are taken off. I have given up trying to find pairs, now I only buy all the same colour, black, then I dont have to match them otherwise it drives me mad having odd socks everywhere.

I once found a sock in the wash which didn't belong to anyone in the family. Hadn't had anyone to stay for ages and had only washed the stuff from the laundry basket. I think it must have been smuggled in by the 'one wire coat hanger', where the heck did that come from?!
