Afraid I'm one of the people who haven't been very active on here recently (as mentioned in "Will Ye No Come Back Again? in another threat) as I seem to have been rather busy elsewhere.

As I regularly garden & weed without gloves and often suffer the odd skin abrasion/cut etc, I've just asked my surgery for a long overdue tetanus injection booster. At first they refused saying that they no longer gave them except in exceptional circumstances for skin cuts as the Tetanus jab is now a combined one for polio & dyptheria and is only given when people are travelling abroad to countries where these diseases are still rife. I did more or less insist & have now been given a jab but wonder whether other gardeners have had a similar problem keeping their tetanus innoculations up to date?

When I last asked I was told that Tetanus boosters for UK adult residents are no longer medically required as once an adult your childhood & teenage jabs would have permanently immunised you.
Do not put off thanking people when they have helped you, as they may not be there to thank later.

Had to have injections for various diseases when I was working because part of my duties was to maintain a hospital incineration plant, tetanus was one of them but wasn't given it because as a youngster I had been given it 3 times after various accidents so am considered immune.
