odd coloured butternut squash

Dear All,
I like growing butternut squash; however I get a lot of them stolen. Sooo I thought I would try the butternut squash that do not have the typical colouring eg barbera from suttons. What I want to know is this; do they get stolen as much and do they store and taste ok.
