That must get pretty frustrating for any gardener Alan, so many crops need sun for ripening / sweetness

In Carmarthenshire the blackberries were very good last year, but non-existent this year. The early Spring favoured the strawberries - all over by Wimbledon - then everything hesitated, and in some cases continued to hesitate. June was 4.5F below last year, July 2.1F and Aug .5F. August was particularly dull. If Positive Weather Solutions are right then we also have another cold winter ahead.

That was my feeling too Colin, a hard winter very likely on the cards again.
Acording to the BBC website it's been the coolest summer for two decades.

Fascinating thread... We are over in South West Ireland and started picking blackberries late July. Still picking and a very abundant and generous crop, far, far better than last year.

Shelter varies so much which accounts for the long-picking season, The freezer is full now.

We've never had such a long season for blackberries. The wild brambles were ready early and finished by late September. Our cultivated blackberries are still in fine form and likely to go on for another month, at least.
