Quite a few of my beetroot (Boltardy) this year have failed to grow above golf-ball size. The tops look perfectly healthy and they are in the same rows as others, which reach tennis-ball size. Any ideas, please, so I can do better next year?

Been there, done that. I think this is one veg' that benifits from thinning out. Cheers, Tony

Thinning's not the problem - each seed was planted individually 5" apart.

Lack of water, I would say. Beetroot are very thirsty plants.
