Dear Donedigging, the day went very well, and there were some very kind comments.
Although i was out for a family meal for half the time.
And this nearly turned out to be an event of it's own, on the way home.
I was a passenger in the car, when a huge strange looking bug suddenly appeared in the car. I grabbed it, went to chuck it out of the window, but opened the door instead. As we were going round a corner at high speed, i all but fell out.
Hope things are going well for you.

Definitely summer today - just off to cook new potatoes, samphire and a fillet of the first sewin of the year

Now there's a fish worth eating! They can grow to quite a size but about 1.5lbs to 2.5 lbs seems to get them somehow at their best to my way of thinking. Best eaten with just home made bread and butter.

With mention of Radio (Radeo?) Peas on Vulcan thread....
At home here they are 4' 6" and climbing slowly, not bad given our drought...they are in flower..but under serious Sparrow attack at the SW end...not visible in this NE end photo....

The Work examples are not looking so good...kept short by the attention of Pigeons...
....and as of this morning 3 nets added to try to dissuade them. A right jumble trying to get nets up above the tall Ash sticks and tie them together with twistee ties....and keeping the net away from the Peas else they grow through and defeat the object...but getting net low enough to hopefully make the Pigeons not risk being under net........
....and the Runner Beans to the left and climbing French Beans right are bound to like climbing an alternative route too....

....and I will never forget giving it grief about the ruddy Pigeons eating everything to my then new employer a few years back.
How was I to know that her maiden name and that of her niece, being taken on a garden tour, was....Pigeon 
.........
Not only that...nieces mums maiden name was Wood..... I learnt that at the same time.....when I suggested I should perhaps refer to the aerial raiders as Woods instead.................

Netted the Early Onward Peas this morning..... 
The bonus though was being in the garden early when all was quiet...except for excited Strawberry eating Squirrels and wing clapping Pigeons. ..was, that I got to hear a Cuckoo...
