Broad beans

Reply.."not as yet" I'm sure they should be in by now?
Any one harvesting them yet?

Hi Donedigging. Yes, broad beans are just ready, we will be having some with lunch tomorrow, I grew epicure, they're a nice flavour. I plant my broad beans in autumn and stick them under an enviromesh tent which protects from the snow and ice.
Looking at my Kale and sprouts I think they are going to be ready early too, way before xmas, I covered them with hoops and enviromesh and they are pushing up the enviromesh, will have to rig a taller frame for them this weekend.

Dear Donedigging, much to Old Codgers delight, he has been picking for a couple of weeks now, but mine will still be another week.

We have lots of flowers on our broad beans, (The sutton) we have a very windy site. But nothing ready yet. But my worry is that today I noticed one of the plants have started going a slight pale yellow at the top three inches of the plant.

We have had lots of rain here for the last three weeks and I planted out my butternuts and pumpkin two weeks ago but kept plastic cloches over them, and just kept watering, they are also showing slight yellowing, is there something I should be doing. Is it too much water there are no flowers on the pumpkin or butternut yet.

I have been picking broad beans for 2 weeks and am very pleased with the quality. They are such an easy crop to grow and always pay me well.

We're on week 3 of picking too, but only from the ones in the tunnel. This is the first time we've grown an early crop under plastic and I'll definitely do it again. Outside plants are in flower, but no pods yet.

I've picked some (and jolly delicious they are too). Lots of pods but small beans. These are from the autumn planted plants. The spring planted beans are yet to pod.

Second week of picking mine, autumn planted outdoors, looking good and no sign of blackfly either, I might pick the tips for greens anyway!
