Thank you 'Glallotments' . . . My old bean bed was very sheltered, but a 7ft fence shaded it, I noticed the French beans took a time to get going after planting last year, then grew as though life depended on it!

This year, a new more open bed, loads of sun but exposed . . . the weather obviously has not helped. I think??? I'll get away with the the belt and braces fixes? But next year, a rethink on timings and extra hardening off.

. . . I still dont understand why the Swiss Chard scorched, no BF&B, and grew from seed direct in the bed outside????
