should I be nervous?...but gold nugget tom plant has first truss flowers open and I have 2 teenie tiny cucumbers bout the size of my little finger on a burpless green plant that is not quite 2 feet tall.

These were planted out into an unheated greenhouse 2 weeks ago.

Should I leave the cucumbers on? will these babies prevent the plant from putting energy back in growing taller?

Should I cover the flowers on the tom with fleece, living in Northumberland, its almost given that we'll have more frost before end of May???

This is the earliest I've ever planted cucumber and toms out - usually leave them in the house till mid-may. But on advice of a relative who lives in Sunderland, thought I'd try experiment this year and planted out into the borders middle of April. gulp!

Dear Rubykitchen, i normally remove the first cucumber, courgette or marrow of the plants, but since yours is two feet tall, and as long as it is still looking vigorous, i would be tempted to leave them on.

As Pongeroon suggests, keep you eye on the night time temperatures and be prepared to cover.
Kind Regards, Old Herbaceous.
