A New Pathogen

Can't identify that mould? Got a great tip for keeping slugs at bay? Suggestions for organic weed control? Post them here...

Hi NB,
All three of your websites refer to BT type of GM so how do you manage to relate this the Glyphosate?

I just posted the links Johnboy, without any comment, you are assuming again .... folk here are adult enough to read and make up their own minds without my opinion ... or yours.

Hi NB,
The headlines of the first posting.
Emergency! Pathogen New to Science Found in Roundup Ready GM Crops?

Then if you read the other three websites they are nothing to do with Roundup.
So what is it you are trying to tell us!

Dear NB,

When you say 'This is not new' are you referring to the fact that animals are aborting etc and the suspected GM implication, rather than linking the actual suspected cause i.e. BT or Glysophate as cited by the articles?
Kind regards,

Elle

just putting the links up for information, Elle, it seems they are still investigating, but I feel it's worth keeping an eye on the situation :)

Don Huber and Mae-wan Ho are both retired scientists and well-known campaigners against GM crops in any shape or form. The "New Pathogen" story has flashed round the internet at the speed of light. However, it does not appear to have impressed many working scientists.

I apologise for the number of links, but they are worth reading to to balance the the other "scaremongering" links in this thread.

An apposite quote from the last link:

The story has been picked up by many bloggers, including Jill Richardson, and even made an appearance on Reuters. I haven’t seen any posts dedicated to a critical analysis of the letter, instead there is a rush to assume that it is correct, despite the lack of citations or other evidence provided for the extraordinary claims in the letter. The story is often accompanied with horrific pictures of dead fetal calves and the words “Emergency!” and “Danger!” Are we really all in danger? The claims in the letter bring to mind Carl Sagan’s famous statement: “extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence.” Let’s investigate the claims and determine whether enough evidence is provided.

Hi Alan,
As I suspected the normal scaremongers at work again.
I think the website links you provide give a message that it is easier to scaremonger than do the research! They are a disgrace!
I found those websites to be honest and give a very true picture from those who actually carry out the field research. Quite refreshing reading.

Dear NB, I was just trying to be sure of the connections, but it is just for info - thank you. :D

Dear Alan,

Thank you for those links, I have put them up to read when I go off-line.
Kind regards,

Elle
