I seem to have read, or someone's told me, that one shouldn't plant onions near potatoes, as they adversely affect each other. I was planning to put my onion rows alongside my main crop spuds - is this a bad idea? Many thanks for advice.

I must say I have not heard of this one. I would be interested to know what other people think.

I suppose it's the opposite of companion planting, but like Catherine, I had not heard of this one.

I think there was an article on what not to plant together some time ago in KG, Has anybody still got that?

In the January 2009 back to basics it said that onions follow potatoes in a traditional crop rotation.
