Am I missing something? What is new about it? It looks just like the shallots I grew last year. Is it a hybrid shallot/onion?

Exactly my point, Banana Shallots have been grown by KG forum members for years!

And are they best grown from seed or sets?

Seed and that reminds me, I need to get moving with the handful or two of seed from last year.

Leave or replant 6-12 of previous years bulbs and they WILL flower. ;) :)
